What is Genetically Engineered Food?
Genetically Engineered food (also called GE food) is food whose genes have been altered in a laboratory by scientific engineers. There are many reasons for food genes to be altered. Most food in 2010 is manufactured by a "corporation". Corporations are in the business to make money. The desire to make as much money as possible dictates the reasoning behind GE food.
GE food is mainly used in processed foods. Processed foods are foods created by corporations to make the food last longer in container ships, trucks, warehousing, and finally on store shelves, conveniently waiting for us to grocery shop.
This allows the investors in the corporations huge profit margins because their food never spoils. This drives Wall Street. This drives our economy. For the corporations, there is little to no loss of profit because the food is dead, it has no life in it to spoil!
This is called "extended shelf life", which equals "more profit" for the investors in the corporations because the food can sit on the shelf until you purchase it, without further investments from the corporations.
We now eat food that is almost totally devoid of nutrients. It looks good, but does not support or nourish our immune systems, muscles, glands, internal organs, bones, hair, eyes, brain, teeth or nails. The food is fragmented because all the live parts have been removed through processing and it is contaminated with foreign genes through genetic engineering. It is no longer a a "whole" food. A whole food is a food the has all of its edible original parts.
Other examples of GE foods are foods that have been injected with selected genes from humans, animals, sea life and other plants. One of the problems with GE food is that the only way to insert the genes into the food is to "infect" the food with a virus, bacterium and molds. This means that GE food is infected with diseases to create a new version of the original food.
In conclusion, processed GE foods contain little to no natural enzymes, vitamins, proteins, does not support our immune functions, and are full of viruses, bacteriums, and molds.
The people who create and sell these products do not consume their own products. They and their families eat certified organic food. "Corporate food" is created and sold to the "masses". They are created for "us". People on a budget. And our community eats GE food everyday!
Food does not taste the way it did 30 years ago. The majority of our local food from our local stores has little to no taste. Loaded with pesticides and preservatives, the food has been irrradiated, and usually is "imported" from other countries.
Many local fast food restaurants load fat, sugar, flavor enhancing chemicals and salt into their food to make the nutrient depleted food have taste to the point it contributes to diabetes, hypertention, obesity, and malnutrition to those who eat it on a regular basis.
GE food is in the boxed, canned, bottled, bagged products foods sections and now
in some of the fruits and vegetables in the produce section. The worst offenders are the fast food restaurants in our community!
If a product is has a label stating "Certified Organic Certification" - it's not GE food. It is Organic!
If a product is not labeled "Certified Organic" - it is most likely GE food.
